Is there any way for you to upload music and type in a message to play at the same time?

That is a good idea, but this would require significant development from a technical standpoint.

The best thing to do would be to record your voice with music playing in the background using the record-by-mic feature.

Of course, you wouldn't be using text-to-speech in this case...

That is what I figured but I thought it was worth asking. Unfortunately most schools lack such technological equipment. But I will definitely play around with what I have at home. Thanks for the tip.

To make the voice recording with a music background try the free software program "Audacity". You would just need some mp3 files, speakers and a microphone. There would be some overhead to learn it, but your students can do it. Locate a site with mp3 files with a liberal Creative Commons license to avoid copyright issues.

Or try a audio podcast creation software. I use Podcast Station but they stopped making it.

You can download free midis, convert them, and use them as your voice. It is really easy to do.
