I have created my account. I'd like to go back and change my password. How do I do this?

I've read a lot of the questions/answers on here, and my plan is to change my password to something more user friendly for my students. I have 25 students. Once I give them my email address and password, they can all log in at the same time in school and create their own vokis, right? They are all 9 or 10 years old. When I do this, should I also send home a permission slip to parents?

Also, I have created my Voki but when I click "Publish," there is no link that comes up (only the embed code)- no link comes up, even when I select the type of link (whatever that means?).

The only way for me to get the link is to "Send to a Friend." So, I've been emailing them to myself and getting the link that way. Is anyone else having this problem?

To start, I'm going to have my whole class create Voki's that represent themselves. We are going to post these on our blog hopefully. I will then hopefully be able to use these for other lesson ideas that I found on here such as summarizing, creating characters from books, people from history, etc. I'm very excited to use this!

THANK YOU!

If Voki want to really help schools they should let you save the aviators as pictures (jpeg, gif) so we don’t need to create emails for student that we cannot filter.

Yes, my students are having this link problem also! I was aware that Voki had recently fixed a problem with the disappearing embed code, so I asked if they meant that the embed code was missing. They said no, the embed code is there -- what's missing is the link. So they tried using the Send To A Friend function but we've found that it only works sporadically (sometimes I receive the message, sometimes I don't).

I have been having my 4th graders use MY account. I have them type in my email address for me, and then I type in my password for them. I have 5 computers in my classroom, so I've been having 5 at a time do this. There's no way I could do this in the computer lab, and not feel overwhelmed with typing in my password 25 times.

Then I have them create a Voki and save it as their name. I did notice though that sometimes the Voki says innapropriate things! One of my students did the hearts background and an oddball character, and all of a sudden as she hovered over the Voki, it said "Do I make you horney?" in an Austin Powers accent. Yikes!!! I quickly had her change her text to something appropriate and press play, so that stopped from happening.

I haven't had them do anything with their Vokis yet. Where have you all been publishing your Vokis to? I was going to try and put in on Edublogs, but I'm having a hard time figuring that out.

I was able to save my own Voki as a picture though (print screen). I use it as my profile picture in Edmodo. I think I'm going to have my students do this as well for now, for their own Edmodo pages, until I figure out where else I can host my Vokis.....suggestions?

So if I understand all of you, I can't create an account with student names. My elementary students use my account to create a Voki?
Please let me know if this isn't correct.
Thanks!!!

I have been experimenting with using Voki in the classroom and I have tried the gmail + trick to create an account for each student.

Can any VOKI ADMINISTRATOR tell me why the gmail + accounts are not working and possible suggest a better way to create secure email accounts for a class of 23 4th graders, ages 9 - 10.

Thank you,

Hi Kelly,

The Gmail + trick isn't working because this is not actually a separate email account. A Voki account requires a unique email account, and the Gmail trick is more of a labeling technique.

Currently, most teachers are using one email account per class and allowing students to log in during the class.

Other teachers are asking parents to create a Voki account with their kids and letting them use that account for assignments. This is also a way for parents to keep track of their kids' Vokis.

Finally, we're currently developing a classroom management feature that will allow teachers to add students (without students needing to sign up with an email address). This will solve the under-13 issue, but this feature is a few weeks away.

Good luck!
