I am wanting my students to create a voki but I just want to have one sign in account for all of them to use. Is this possible, and if so how do I do it? Is it just a regular account or is it something different? Will they all be able to sign in at the same time on different computers?

I've tried to use Voki with my Grade 7s, with some success. We were able to post avatars in Wikispaces. Not such luck in Wordpress, which is where their personal blogs are located within our school board's 'intranet'.
Few of them are 13, so we can't legally use these. Our board's quite picky about it. I just wish Voki folks would realize some of the limitations. They need to walk in our shoes for a day and see the legal hassles surrounding privacy, etc. These are fun enhancements to the student blogs, but they're not deal-breakers for me. The kids can't get the embed codes - they get chopped in half, and the Vokis don't show up. Too much hassle.

Hi!
You can most definitely use one account for your whole class. Just create one and you're good to go. Students can also create Vokis without creating an account, but they won't be able to save their Vokis.
Also, with Voki for Education, you can now directly post your Vokis to your blogs. No more code copying!

What if you have numerous classes? Do I have to have a separate email address if I want to set up four or five different class vokis? And how many different avatars can each class handle?

Hi Anonymous,
The legality issue is on our end. Essentially, we are unable to knowingly collect information from children under 13. We require a birth date during signup, but there is no way for us to verify this information. We've seen many teacher's either creating class accounts (logging students in during class), or having parents sign permission slips and creating account for their kids. The privacy concerns you're referring to are very important to us as well.
We are planning on making more updates, which will address the COPPA requirements and will enable us to officially open up Voki to children under 13. We know that this is important to teachers.
Regarding multiple classes, you can certainly create more than one Voki account. Each account can accommodate many Voki scenes - there is not a limit (just be sure to name them in a way that makes sense). In the future, we are considering a school/ class feature for Voki.
Regarding Wordpress - have you tried the new publishing tool? After clicking Publish, the user just needs to click on the Wordpress icon and log in.
I hope that helps. Good luck!

Hi,
I tried to set up different accounts using my email with different passwords for each class/section. It didn't appear to work.
How do you set up different accounts for each class? I have 28 to 30 students per class.
Can I use the one email address and just have the different passwords?
Confused on how to get this going without having all 150 plus placing their voki's in my one account.
Any enlightenment appreciated.

:wink oes this mean that all avatars the students make on a class account can not be posted to the blog?

Thanks. I did try to log in my 28 students this am under my account and only one was able to be logged in. Instead I ended up having them create a voki and ran around the room checking their work before the end of the period. Wish I had roller blades on. Please advise on a solution for when this happens. I would like their parents to see their work or for the kids to send their parents a voki message.
Thanks.

Hi again,
I finally figured it out. If I have the kids log in on computers at the same time the system gets overloaded. The tech person and I ran around and logged in one at a time and then all the students were able to use my account. It is an overloading issue. Thank you for your support.
The kids are loving this! Working on review of the NS system, each creating a statement of review. Focused and having fun.
Thank you so much!!!

Hi,
In regards to students needing to have their Voki reviewed before the lesson is over - there's a solution to that as well.
After a Voki is created, in the Publish option, you can select "Voki Link" - this is a URL which will show your Voki scene. The scene is saved and can be viewed at any time, whether or not the creator has an account.
Hope that helps!

Hi Romina,
There is currently only one option for a Voki account. Each user needs to create their own account.
However, very soon we'll have the option of creating a Voki teacher account, which will allow you to create one or more classes. This will let you assign all of the students within each class their own login (without needing their email addresses).
Stay tuned for Voki Classroom!

I learnt about vokis last year and now I am using them with my Form 1s on a project about the environment- basically they are creating superhero avatars to defend, protect and preserve our country's natural resources. I plan to repeat this with the incoming group next year, so that I am really looking forward to the teacher/ class accounts since my email is presently swamped with 118 vokis to be checked and graded!

Hi sjcposlib,
We're glad your students are taking advantage of Voki in the classroom! We're actually about to introduce a new product called Voki Classroom, which will include (unlimited) class accounts, as well as many more features. Stay tuned to our blog (http://blog.voki.com), as we'll be posting an announcement within the next couple of days about it.
